Communication Mark Team

Mark Goldstein, President and CEO, has consistently served nonprofits as a staff member, board member or consultant since 1991. Mark’s primary role at Communication Mark is to formulate creative project strategies, direct project and grant research, and edit grant proposals. He has raised millions for nonprofit organizations by obtaining grants for organizations of all types, sizes and locales. His volunteerism has included cycling from Boston to New York to help combat HIV/AIDS and playing a lead role in founding a public access television station. Mark is a Duke University Nonprofit Management course instructor and has published over 225 articles in community newspapers and other publications. He currently serves as a board member for the Association of Fundraising Professionals Western North Carolina Chapter.

Chris Amsbary,Fundraising Consultant, spent 27 years crafting proposals and sales pitches that sold information technology solutions to large business customers. After a successful career in the corporate world, she decided to focus on working with nonprofits to help make an impact on people while gaining more personal fulfillment. Originally from Chicago, Chris earned her BS degree in Finance from the University of Illinois. She left Illinois to escape the cold winters and has enjoyed living in the Southeast for most of her life. In 2009, Chris moved to western NC with her husband and two rescue dogs and lives in a log home near the top of a mountain. Prior to moving to the Asheville area, she and her husband owned a successful fine craft gallery in Charlotte for several years. She enjoys collecting fine craft and art, playing piano and listening to music, gardening, reading, cooking, hiking, traveling and exploring the mountains.

Anna Booraem, Fundraising Consultant, has participated in the nonprofit community as a service provider, board member and consultant for 13 years. Prior to joining Communication Mark, Anna was the Marketing Manager for OneWhoServes, Inc. Computer and Business Services in Asheville, where she worked with nonprofits to meet their needs for fundraising software and technology services. She has been a member of the Western North Carolina Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the College of Charleston. Anna has written marketing plans, promotional materials and web content for a variety of businesses and organizations. Her interests include Asheville’s performing arts scene, reading, singing karaoke and being outside on beautiful days. She has lived in Asheville for 10 years and has loved every minute of it.

Lyn Maxwell White, Senior Fundraising Consultant, served for many years at the National Endowment for the Humanities in Washington DC, directing its Higher Education Program and working with Challenge Grants. She has a PhD in American literature from UNC-Chapel Hill, and a BA from Agnes Scott College. Lyn has lived in Asheville since 2000 with her two regal Tonkanese cats, Max and Shoelace. Her son, Andrew, is now a graduate student in Computer Science at Chapel Hill. Prior to joining Communication Mark, Lyn served as a senior administrator and professor at Mars Hill College, where she helped envision, staff and fund the Liston B. Ramsey Center for Regional Studies. In her spare time, Lyn enjoys mountain and Cherokee culture and writing. She has recently been adopted by Zeke, a stray black and gray tabby with gorgeous green eyes, much to the consternation of Max and Shoelace.

Alice Sabo, Administrator, grew up in suburban New Jersey, where she developed a bad case of wanderlust. After attending college in New Jersey and Massachusetts, she finished her Bachelors in Fine Arts at the University of New Mexico. Since that time, she has worked in a variety of jobs, from managing a quick print store to freelancing as a scenic artist. During her travels she has honed her administrative skills, and has now alighted in Asheville. She still pursues painting and writing in her spare time.
